Computers and the internet have changed a lot about the way music is created and distributed. No longer are musicians required to be present in the same physical space in order to contribute to a recording project. Online musical collaboration is rapidly becoming more commonplace, and any musician with access to studio gear and an internet connection is capable of participating in this revolutionary process of music creation. 

Enter StudioVillage...

StudioVillage is an online community of musicians, recording engineers, studio owners, singers, songwriters, arrangers, producers, and other music business participants. It was created to provide a centralized location that would allow individuals to establish a presence, showcase their talents, and promote their services. In particular, StudioVillage was designed to provide a means for modern recording musicians from around the globe to network and collaborate on projects with other musicians, producers, engineers, and studio owners, while being free from traditional time and distance limitations.

Membership Levels

Standard Membership

A Standard Membership is free, and registration is fast and easy! As a Standard Member, you gain full access to the StudioVillage Talent Directory, which allows you to choose from a select group of professionals that are available "for hire" to contribute to your recording projects. Once registered as a Standard Member, finding talent for your recording project is easy. Under the "Find Talent" menu item, you can browse the Talent Directory, or conduct an advanced search for a particular instrument, area of expertise, genre, or any combination of criteria. You can visit the profile pages of those Pro Members who you think might be suitable for your project. You can view their info, listen to samples of their work, look at photos, watch videos, read their bio/resumé, check out their discography, and more. You can contact them them via our internal private messaging system, or send them an email. Standard Members can also set up their own profile pages, complete with an avatar, an "About Me" section, a Photo Gallery, a Connections list, a Comments area, and more. Standard Members can also openly post projects for possible collaboration in Session Call, located in The Forum. Just select the appropriate genre for your project, and include any pertinent information. You can also upload mp3 files of your project, as well as images to include in your post.

Pro Membership

Pro Members make up the StudioVillage Talent Directory, which is reserved for those individuals who offer their services for hire to other members. Becoming a Pro Member at StudioVillage establishes your "web presence", and allows you to participate in the revolutionary process of internet audio file exchange for a nominal cost. No website is required to "set up shop" and start taking orders. There are no monthly hosting payments to pay, and there are no domain name or server issues to worry about. And you won't need to hire a web designer. You can set up and maintain your Profile Page yourself! You can set up an expanded profile page complete with a your bio/resumé, your discography, an audio player for playing samples of your work, a video embedding module, a blog, a Photo Gallery, a Comments area, and more. You can also outline your hiring terms and conditions, and display an optional Profile Order Form that allows you to accept work orders with file uploads right from your Profile Page. An optional link to your PayPal account can be provided that will direct clients to pay any deposits required once their order is submitted. In addition, Pro Members are given their own personal account at FileCentral, a custom file management area. It offers online storage and remote backup capacity, and sophisticated uploading and downloading tools. In particular, FileCentral affords StudioVillage Pro Members a means to deliver rough mixes and finished files to their clients. Many of the features of FileCentral are comparable to those of other well-known file transfer services (whose fees alone can average over $300.00 per year). FileCentral privileges are included as part of the StudioVillage Pro Membership package. So in a nutshell, a StudioVillage Pro Membership provides an efficient turn-key solution that will allow you to jump-start your internet recording career.
